History
The temple holds significant importance in the lives of Shaiva devotees. Its history is linked to the Satya Yuga. The holy marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place at the Triyuginarayan Temple in Uttarakhand. The Neeleshwar Mahadev Temple is the place where Shiva’s wedding procession briefly halted before reaching the world’s highest temple, Triyuginarayan Temple. Additionally, it is believed that Lord Shiva stayed here for several years. Since Lord Shiva resided here, it is a very powerful temple that attracts Shiva devotees from around the world.
Architecture
Located just 1 km by road from the main Chandi Devi Temple, this temple can be visited along with the sacred Chandi Devi Temple. The temple is built in the traditional style of Indian temple architecture and is a simple place. As you enter, you will see a statue of Nandi the bull and a spacious open area where you can sit, walk around, or just spend some time. Inside the sanctum, there is a Shiva Lingam, which is believed to be self-manifested, and another statue of Nandi. Right before the sanctum, there is a large assembly hall where devotees gather to celebrate various festivals and holy occasions.
Temple Timings
The temple is open for darshan from 6 AM to 8 PM.
